30% of Black Men In America Have European Paternal Ancestry

Dr. Rick Kittles
Dr. Kittles received a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1989 and a doctorate in biological sciences (major fields of study: population genetics, systematics and evolution and biological anthropology) from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1998

Dr. Kittles was also a Human Genome Research Associate/ Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Human Genome Research Institute of the National Institutes of Health and at Howard University College of Medicine from 1998-1999.

This is from an article about Dr. Rick Kittles, the founder of the African Ancestry Genetic Research company:

Dr. Kittles' Y-chromosome test can raise an issue that might be sensitive to some customers wanting to get more in touch with their African paternal ancestors. The test may uncover white forefathers instead. This can be disconcerting because one of them may have owned a black female ancestor.

How common is it? According to Shriver, of the several thousand people he studied who identify as African-Americans, about 90 percent are at least half black genealogically (and thus genetically). On average, about 82-83 percent of the genes found in African-Americans are indeed from Africa. Still, the odds that a Y-chromosome test will find a forefather from Europe are significant. Kittles noted that about 30 percent of African-Americans' Y-chromosomes originated in Europe.

Kittles, for example, has a Y-chromosome common in Germany, not Africa. "My father had told me for a long time that I had a white ancestor on our paternal line. So, the test confirmed it goes back to Germany.

30% of Black men in America have a Y chromosome that goes back to Europe.

Think about that for a minute!

Every time these men reproduce and have a son, they are passing on White male genes. That is powerful when you think about it and shows the impact slavery had upon African-American men.

The Y chromosome is what determines your biological manhood.

I believe that this is a good explanation of why we have a lot of Black men who love White women and for the sheer amount of cooning ass men we have in America.

I bet the majority of the coons and House Negro men out there are part of that 30% that have a European Y chromosome.

Recent research has came out showing the impact that genetics has on the brain and human behavior so it is not out of the realm of possibility that a Black man with a European Y chromosome might have a tendency to act like his paternal ancestors and desire what they desired.

  1. So what you're telling me is that at least 30% of African Americans are actually white?

    1. What I am saying is that 30% of Black men in America have a European Y chromosome.
What this means is that 30% of Black men in America will pass on a key chromosome to all their sons for generations to come that is European. The Y chromosome determines maleness, testosterone levels etc... so these Black men in essence are perpetuating white supremacy with every son they have!

  2. Can we talk about this as it pertains to African American WOMEN? Think about how much rape and sexual coercion had to happen for the percentages to be this high. Imagine what that kind of systemic violence must have done to the black woman's psyche?

    1. Yes. Very rarely has there been an accurate depiction of the amount and trauma of rape of Black women during slavery onward to the mid 1900s. WPA Slave Narratives may be of use for you if you want personal accounts.

  3. The author has taken factual information and drawn spurious and unwarranted inferences about behavior. Saying that having a Y-chromosome that originated in Europe makes one prefer white women, a coon, and/or a "house N" is ludicrous when there are so many other factors involved (try the constant media bombardment of what constitutes beauty in this country).

Not only are the inferences ludicrous, but they're also dangerous. If we give credence to your inferences, then conclusions that having a Y-Chr from Africa makes the bearer lazy, less intelligent, more athletic, and more inclined to criminal acts are valid inferences as well.

Treat the factoid for what it is. A serious indictment of white exploitation and abuse of Africa people over the centuries. this criminality should not be forgotten or disregarded, and should serve as a reminder to always be on guard against future and continued criminal--as in crimes against humanity--activities of Europeans in this world.

    1. The person is foolish. It is as simple as XYZ.

Yes, it would be appropriate to ensure that this is beyond a doubt accurate, as the implications of such an occurrence are mind boggling.

  4. I have a question please:
If I have a European "Y" chromosome, shall I identify myself as European or as African? Is it enough to determine my ethnicity based on "Y" chromosome only?

    1. Hmm, that would have to be based on whatever beliefs you have, not others.

Ethnicity is much more complex than a Y chromosome. As well, you likely have ancestry from multiple ethnic groups, but I doubt that you will be given leisure to practice the cultures of all of them due to your exclusion from the ethnic groups.

The Y chromosome will tell you only a certain number of years back that two ethnic groups crossed. For example, a European man and an African woman have a child in 1667. All of the child's male descendants will have that y chromosome origin unless another ethnic group comes along and diverse mating (or rape) occurs.

    1. Dr. King and Marcus Garvey had European paternal haplogroups.

    2. And your point? Conner stated, "I bet the majority of the coons and House Negro men out there are part of that 30% that have a European Y chromosome." This does not mean that the entire thirty percent are "coons" and "House Negro men". Saying that XYZ people are more likely to have Q is not equivalent to saying that all people who have Q are XYZ people. It is such a common error, but that does not make it correct. The coons and whatever could still be in the group just like the two above. There is no way of knowing, but I think that the caricatures such as coon are based on socialization rather than DNA. However, I do think that it is so saddening how many Black women and girls may have been raped for this to occur.

  6. I for one have a European Y chromosome. I don`t need Dr. Kittles or Gates to tell me who I am because I did the heavy lifting myself. So when ancestry.com told my uncle that he was 76% Benin/Togo and Bantu, I was able to send them a message that I research my father`s line back 8 generations and there were no Africans. In addition, I told them that the science of DNA Testing cannot identify tribal connections. Aside for that think about it, they can tell you that you are 5% Native American but cannot identify a tribe. They can tell you that you are 5% Britian but cannot idenify a tribe but some how these same people can connect you to an African tribe. I told them point blank that they are frauds. My uncle is at least 20% Native American and Ancestry.com said 0%. I put his picture through a forensic photo DNA Estimate software and the results came up with four of the six European countries, 0% African and 20% Native American. Since those were the results I obtained through the heavy lifting of ancestral research, I would have to consider the DNA forensic photo testing more reliable than the actual DNA Tests.
