I used Tor to create and upload this blog post |
Google/YouTube is the only one who has access to the IP addresses of the people who watch videos and use Google related services. You could get the last known IP address if you hacked someone's G-Mail account but I don't think Monty or his followers are smart enough to hack an e-mail account.
Here are ways to stay somewhat anonymous if that is your goal
1. Use anonymous e-mail. Here are some links to free anonymous e-mail sites.
https://securemail.hidemyass.com/
http://www.sendanonymousemail.net/
http://anonymouse.org/anonemail.html
https://www.anonymousspeech.com/
You can find more if you do a google search for anonymous e-mail.
2. Use a proxy server or Tor. Now some people have said that TOR was compromised once the Edward Snowden incident happened and it is possible that some of the TOR servers have been taken over by the FBI but I doubt it. I still use TOR about twice a week and I have not noticed any problems. To use TOR, you download the browser package from this webpage https://www.torproject.org/ and once you install it, you double click on the icon and you're using the TOR browser which shows your IP address as being in any number of locations from around the world.
3. Clean your history and cookies in Firefox, IE, Chrome etc....
4. Create a strong password for your G-mail account. A strong password will be a good defense against someone who might want to hack your e-mail account to find out your location. I'm not going to give details about how to find your IP address and current location in your Google account but you should know that Google does track and keep that information. You can go here http://passwordsgenerator.net/ if you cannot think of a strong password.
If you do these four things, you should be able to defend yourself from someone like Monty Woodgrain whose goal is to know the IP addresses of all his enemies.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteif you'd like, you can look at my recently launched service, https://mailchuck.com, which provides anonymous email accounts. It uses Bitmessage to access the service, so you do not disclose your IP address to me (unlike the other services you mention, which know your IP address, merely promise to keep it secret). Not knowing anything about you is the core principle of the service.
Since it's new, it won't show up yet when you search for anonymous email.
